It's Edinburgh Festival time again and so it's time for Scottish Sinfonia's traditional Fringe concert on Sunday the 30th of August in Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh at 7.30pm. This year there are two helpings of Mozart and two of Wagner namely the Symphony No. 34 in C and the Horn Concerto No. 3 in E flat by the former and excerpts from Gotterdammerung and the Suite from Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg by the latter. Hugh Seenan is the French Horn soloist and fellow horn player and Sinfonia conductor Neil Mantle talks about the pieces and the soloist.
The orchestra is playing a beautiful and lyrical set of pieces for their next concert on November 23rd 2008 in Greyfriars Kirk. First it's Wagner's Prelude to Act 1 of Lohengrin, the Dvorak Cello Concerto in B minor with the Glasgow based soloist Donald Gillan and finishing up with Brahms Symphony No 2 in D major.
