What is a Podcast?

Technically a podcast is a series of audio or video files, that a user can subscribe to, so that each time a new one is produced, they are updated automatically.
This is done in different ways; using a brower based feed (you just click on a tab in your browser to see the update) or one of several 'podcatchers', including iTunes (anytime that you log in, iTunes will immediately start downloading a new episode).
The listener can then either listen or watch on their computer, or store the files on an iPod or mp3 player and listen wherever and whenever they like.

The technology behind this is called an RSS feed, which stands for Really Simple Syndication and is denoted by this symbol

We write the RSS feeds for you so that so that your users can access your podcast feed. The word vodcast is also used for a video podcast.
